Flying Dog Tap House, nestled conveniently inside Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport at 7050 Friendship Rd, stands out as a refreshing gem among typical airport dining options. This spot merges the casual comfort of a tap house with the attentive service and quality dishes you’d expect from a local favorite.
What makes Flying Dog Tap House truly memorable is its carefully curated menu and beer selection. The beers are consistently praised for being "on point," offering a solid range that complements the food beautifully. Whether you're in the mood for a robust guava margarita or a classic cold brew, the drink choices elevate the experience beyond the ordinary airport bar.
The food here deserves special mention. Reviewers frequently highlight dishes like the steak salad, cobb salad with grilled chicken, quesadilla, and succulent steak tips, all prepared with thoughtful attention to flavor and presentation. The garlic aioli accompanying the steak salad draws particular praise for its rich taste, though some patrons wished it was more accessible atop the dish rather than underneath. The crab appetizer is another standout, reflecting a nod to local Maryland seafood traditions.
Service at Flying Dog Tap House is consistently described as warm and efficient, channeling genuine hospitality often rare in airport eateries. Staff members, like Nicole mentioned in glowing reviews, shine by creating a welcoming atmosphere that balances the hustle of travel with a moment of relaxation. This attentiveness, combined with quick turnaround times, makes it an ideal stop for travelers who want quality without sacrificing precious time.
Overall, Flying Dog Tap House offers a top-tier dining experience within the fast-paced environment of an airport. From expertly crafted cocktails and local beer offerings to well-executed dishes that feel anything but rushed, it stands as a worthwhile destination for anyone passing through BWI seeking a satisfying and flavorful bite.
“ Good little airport restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Price was higher than expected for the steak salad but the flavor was delicious. The garlic aioli was excellent but it was on the bottom of the plate so it took several bites to get to it. Would have liked to see it drizzled across the top instead. Quick service which was appreciated as we only had an hr before our flight. ”
“ Listen, this probably my first airport restaurant review. And for good reason. It’s a tough crowd and they’re all dealing with mostly haters. Just stopped in for an app and some drinks. Beer was on point. Crab was excellent. And Nicole was a bright light in Baltimore—Southern hospitality came shining through. Thank you so much. ”
“ Excellent food for an airport restaurant. I had the cobb salad with grilled chicken. The beer is good also. ”
“ Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. Ordered the Quesadilla and it was very tasty. Service at the bar was friendly and efficient. Not a bad spot to pick up a quick bite / drink at BWI airport. ”
“ Not your usual airport restaurant! Excellent drinks and burger! Top notch service, highly recommend the guava margarita… don’t let the prices scare you… it’s worth every penny! ”
